Phone Numbers
Provision phone numbers and connect them to your voice agents.
Phone numbers are how customers reach your voice agents. BusyBots provisions numbers for you and links them to any agent you choose.
Prerequisites
- At least one voice agent (see Your First Voice Agent)
Provisioning a number
Go to Voice Agents → Phone Numbers and provision a new number. BusyBots handles the underlying telephony provisioning — you don't need your own carrier account.
Linking a number to an agent
A phone number can be linked to exactly one agent at a time. From the Phone Numbers page:
- Select the number you want to configure
- Choose the agent that should answer calls to that number
- Save — the number is now live for that agent
To move a number to a different agent, reassign it from the same page. Calls will start routing to the new agent immediately.
Verification
Call the number from your own phone. You should reach the linked agent's greeting within a few seconds.
Every call — inbound or outbound, test or real — is logged under Voice Agents → Call History with a full transcript. See Call Analytics.
SIP trunking
For organizations with existing telephony infrastructure, BusyBots also supports connecting a SIP trunk instead of provisioning a new number. Reach out to your BusyBots contact to set this up.
Troubleshooting
Number provisioned but calls don't connect. Confirm the number is linked to a published (not draft) agent.
Calls reach the wrong agent. Check the number's current assignment on the Phone Numbers page — reassigning a number takes effect immediately.
